Restricted industries

Sectors we generally cannot fund.

Most UK trades that take card payments or run a busy business bank account can be considered. We generally will not fund the following, and we'll tell you straight away rather than take an application we know will fail:

  • Individuals, sole traders and partnerships below £25,000 (consumer credit rules)
  • Businesses trading under six months
  • Adult entertainment and escort services
  • Gambling, betting and casinos
  • Cryptocurrency exchanges and trading
  • Firearms and weapons
  • Cannabis, CBD and vape manufacturing
  • Debt collection, payday and consumer lending, pawnbrokers
  • Multi-level marketing and pyramid schemes
  • Businesses in insolvency or administration, or with an unresolved CCJ
  • Charities and not-for-profits (different funding routes apply)

Borderline sectors such as nightclubs, travel agents, used-car dealers and construction with retention clauses are considered case by case. If you're not sure, ask on the form; it costs nothing to find out.
